Newport FOT Sludge Dispersant (Newport-FOT) is formulated to completely mitigate all issues associated with the heavy asphaltenic components of heavier, blended fuel oils. Treatment rate is 1:30,000, or one liter per 30 metric tons.
Newport-FOT is a peptizing agent which slips between asphaltene micelles and gums resins and waxes, dispersing them evenly throughout the fuel blend. This chemical homogenization provides a more fluid, consistent mixture, resulting in uninterrupted injector spray patterns, contributing to better combustion and deposit inhibition.
This characteristic also prevents fuel stratification which often occurs when a light distillate is blended into a heavier fuel to achieve lower viscosity and sulfur dilution.
Laboratory and shipboard evaluations establish that Newport-FOT provides sludge reductions anywhere from 35-55 percent and more, recapturing lost fuel value while keeping fuel delivery systems in peak operating condition.
